Summary:

Malteser International Americas, an independent 501c3 organization, seeks an experienced Executive Director to lead its U.S. affiliate based in New York City. The Executive Director will be responsible for organizational leadership and development, overseeing various departments including fundraising, communications, human resources, finance, operations, and programs. The ideal candidate will have international experience and a proven track record of guiding organizations through periods of growth and change.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Organizational Development:

  • Develop and execute a compelling vision and strategic plan for MI Americas, in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of comprehensive business plans to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including the wider Malteser International family and the U.S. Order of Malta Associations.

Representation Function:

Management:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team, setting clear priorities aligned with MI values.
  • Supervise team leaders, providing guidance and motivation to drive performance.
  • Ensure financial health through effective budgeting and oversight of financial activities.
  • Manage day-to-day operations during a period of transition and change.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least five years of leadership experience in an international organization, preferably in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with a track record of innovation and creativity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and decentralized teams, recruiting and retaining top talent.
  • Proficiency in financial management and compliance, including budgeting and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of working with the US Government and foundations is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English required; Spanish language skills are a plus.

Salary and Benefits:
