Haitian Creole/French Interpreter

Compensation: USD 25.00 per hour

Job Overview

The Interpreter provides in-person and/or remote interpretation services to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality. This role involves working in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, community-based organizations, and government agencies.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services in-person or remotely.
  • Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
  • Participate in trainings and assessments as required.
  • Support special projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Certifications:

  • Interpretation certification required.
  • High school diploma strongly preferred.
  • Formal education in linguistics or related field preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of professional interpretation experience required.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in French/Haitian Creole language.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Reliable transportation to appointment locations.

Working Environment

This role involves a combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly compensation for this position is USD 25.00.
