ORBIS International, a nonprofit dedicated to saving sight worldwide, seeks an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join their Finance team based in New York.

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Coordinator will handle accounting and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the Finance department. Responsibilities include processing invoices, receipts, and related accounting duties. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a global organization’s impactful mission and gain insight into nonprofit accounting.


This hybrid role requires occasional in-person attendance at the New York office, with desk solutions available for those who prefer an office setting. Vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for all staff visiting the office.

Reporting & Working Relationship

The Coordinator reports to the Senior Accounts Payable Coordinator and collaborates closely with staff across the organization to process payment requests and credit card reconciliations.

Essential Job Functions/Key Responsibilities

  • Process all aspects of Accounts Payable, including proper ledger account coding and initiating payments.
  • Utilize Convera’s GlobalPay platform for local currency payments and cash transfers.
  • Record accounts payable and journal vouchers, reconcile travel advances and employee credit card activities.
  • Manage employee credit card accounts and review monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Assist with the monthly closing process and annual audit, among other duties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate degree in Business or Accounting, or relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative tasks.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Word, Excel) and accounting packages.
