Job Summary

The Director of Resource Mobilization at Action Against Hunger USA is a key executive leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and management of the Business Development and Award Management teams. The primary focus is on acquiring public institutional donor resources to support the organization’s mission and vision.

Additionally, the role involves leading emergency response fundraising efforts and coordinating with the Horn and East Africa Regional Office (HEARO) and External Relations during crises. As a member of the Executive Team, the Director collaborates closely with senior leadership to develop and implement organizational strategies, ensure programmatic and financial integrity, and inspire staff towards excellence. The position requires a strong emphasis on strengthening relationships with US-based public institutional donors and maximizing impact through strategic partnerships globally.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Strategic Organizational Direction, Representation & Leadership (10%)
    • Contribute to setting the strategic direction of the organization, including overseeing public institutional donor resource mobilization strategy and humanitarian & development policy and practice.
    • Foster collaboration across teams to achieve performance excellence and program impact.
  2. Resource Mobilization (40%)
    • Oversee Business Development team to support organizational goals and maximize program impact.
    • Lead the design and implementation of a resource mobilization plan to acquire funding from public institutional donors.
    • Cultivate partnerships to position Action Against Hunger as the global NGO of choice for hunger prevention and treatment.
  3. Award Management and Sub-award Monitoring (40%)
    • Administer and monitor funding from global, US Government & US-based public institutional donors.
    • Design and implement an organization-wide award management plan.
    • Coordinate and deliver USG funded global awards and agreement mechanisms.
  4. Emergency Response (5%)
  5. Other Duties as Required (5%)

Supervisory Responsibilities

Associate Director, Business Development, Associate Director, Award Management, IDRU USG-Donor Relations Officer(s).

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or related, equivalent experience.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in international humanitarian assistance and development, or similar role.
  • Extensive managerial experience leading multicultural teams.
  • Track record of winning multi-million proposals from US government institutions and other global donors.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of international humanitarian affairs and commitment to promoting gender equality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
