Job Summary:

Join one of the largest international charitable organizations as a Legal Compliance Specialist in the Legal Department. You’ll provide compliance support and advice to CARE’s business units and global country offices, focusing on policy development, training, and global systems administration. This role demands analytical prowess, independent judgment, and superb communication skills, catering to both domestic and international stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

International Trade and Sanctions Compliance:

  • Support CARE’s trade and sanctions compliance program, ensuring humanitarian activities in sanctioned countries meet regulatory standards.
  • Promote compliance with sanctions requirements and export controls, conducting restricted party screenings, and providing guidance on screening procedures.
  • Manage CARE’s restricted party screening tool, including updates, analytics, and vendor liaison.

Legal Department Projects and Processes:

  • Lead project management of legal compliance initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and scalability of legal services, implementing tools and systems for efficiency.
  • Maintain SOPs, SharePoint sites, and legal files, adhering to records retention guidelines.

Compliance and Ethics Management:

  • Manage CARE’s global whistleblower hotline, overseeing processes for effective utilization and timely handling of reports.
  • Support enterprise risk management practices, tracking compliance metrics and facilitating compliance training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a compliance role
  • Familiarity with international trade laws
  • Proficiency in word processing, Excel, and database maintenance
  • Tech-savvy with experience in innovative software and databases
