Summary:

Chemonics is seeking a Project Director for a USAID Integrated Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) activity. This initiative aims to enhance health systems globally through evidence-driven approaches. The Project Director will lead the technical and managerial aspects of the activity, ensuring its successful implementation and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategy development, management oversight, and technical implementation for multi-country health systems strengthening activities.
  • Supervise key personnel and senior management team to ensure timely delivery of program goals.
  • Ensure quality and timely submission of deliverables to the client.
  • Promote the use of data and evidence for adaptive management of the activity.
  • Serve as primary liaison to USAID, consortium partners, and country stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-learning and coordination between countries.
  • Foster teamwork and innovation within the project.
  • Identify and mobilize external technical assistance needs.
  • Oversee program work planning, budget, performance management, monitoring and evaluation, and strategic communications.
  • Anticipate and address issues and risks related to project implementation.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or development; Doctoral degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of experience in strengthening health systems in developing countries, with 5 years in senior-level roles.
  • Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures; experience with USAID programs preferred.
  • Experience managing global projects with multiple country offices.
  • Extensive experience working with senior-level officials from government, private sector, and civil society.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in other languages preferred.
