Job Overview

The Senior Caseworker for Home Study and Post-Release Services (HSPRS) at IRC plays a crucial role in assessing the safety and suitability of sponsors for unaccompanied children, ensuring their wellbeing post-release. This position is part of a national project expanding to 17 offices across the US.

Major Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-home assessments and regular contacts with children and sponsors, developing individualized service plans.
  • Complete post-release home visits, assess safety, address protection concerns, and provide referrals to community resources.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for reunification purposes, including interviews and mental health evaluations.
  • Collaborate with crisis support staff, develop safety plans, and ensure appropriate interventions.
  • Provide referrals for legal services, education, healthcare, and other support services, utilizing a trauma-informed approach.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, build relationships with community service providers, and ensure confidentiality.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working with children, family reunification, or related fields.
  • Skills & Competencies: Ability to work independently and as a team member, fluency in Spanish and English, knowledge of local social service systems, and experience working with vulnerable populations.

Working Environment

Combination of standard office work, remote work, and frequent travel for home visits. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
