Job Overview

The Youth Mentoring Specialist supports clients in IRC’s Mentoring Youth in Virginia (MYVA) program, focusing on academic, vocational, and social integration goals for eligible youth aged 15 to 24. Responsibilities include enrollment, individualized coaching, group activities, and fostering partnerships.

Major Responsibilities

  • Client Enrollment: Screen, interview, and enroll youth for the MYVA program.
  • Coaching Services: Provide case management and education/career coaching.
  • Group Activities: Plan and implement social, cultural, and community service events.
  • Career Readiness: Conduct workshops on resume writing, networking, and job opportunities.
  • Partnership Building: Establish and maintain relationships with employers and organizations.
  • Mentor Management: Recruit, train, and support volunteer mentors.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records and reports on program participants.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or related field preferred.
  • Work Experience: Prior experience in youth development and mentoring required.
