Fellowship Opportunity Description:
Introduction:
The Generation Next Humanitarian Fellowship seeks graduates from Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to join the humanitarian field. This two-year fellowship at HIAS aims to equip fellows with the skills and networks needed for a successful career in humanitarian assistance.
Essential Duties and Outcomes:
Rotation 1: Information Management & Program Support:
- Assist in assessing and sharing programmatic information needs.
- Compile and synthesize data from various sources.
- Contribute to establishing an information management system.
- Track response funding and assist in creating funding matrices.
Rotation 2: Capacity Building & Roster Management:
- Support the design and implementation of emergency response strategies.
- Organize humanitarian trainings and accreditation processes.
- Assist in maintaining and updating internal and external rosters.
Rotation 3: Monitoring Evaluation and Learning:
- Support the development of monitoring frameworks and tools.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and analyzing findings from assessments and program monitoring.
- Contribute to training colleagues in monitoring and evaluation practices.
Learning Outcome:
Fellows will develop a presentation showcasing their skills and knowledge gained during the fellowship. They will also:
- Gain understanding of career paths within humanitarian assistance.
- Develop knowledge of humanitarian architecture and processes.
- Build a network within the humanitarian sector.
- Enhance leadership, communication, and technical skills.
Fellowship Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a federally recognized minority serving institution.
- At least one year of combined experience in relevant fields.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- US citizenship or permanent residency required.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Proficiency in another language.
