Job Overview

The Matching Grant Employment Specialist assists refugees and qualified immigrants in achieving self-sufficiency through employment preparation and job placement services. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing employment plans, providing job readiness coaching, and building relationships with employers.

Major Responsibilities

  • Client Services: Conduct intake assessments, develop employment plans, provide job readiness coaching, and connect clients with job opportunities.
  • Employer Relations: Cultivate relationships with employers and staffing agencies to identify suitable job placements for clients.
  • Program Reporting: Complete program reporting, monitor client job performance, and maintain accurate records.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with coworkers and partner organizations, train and lead support staff, volunteers, and interns as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of relevant work experience in the workforce development field, preferably with refugee and/or immigrant populations.
  • Strong relationship building, communication, and networking skills.
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in languages spoken by clients desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use digital tools for data entry and research.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment

  • Combination of office, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area.
  • Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
