Description:

Job Summary: IRI is seeking a Program Officer (PO) to oversee the implementation of democracy and governance programs in South Asia. This role involves designing and implementing strategies, monitoring political and economic developments, drafting proposals, and collaborating with field offices and funders.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field
  • 3-5 years of professional international development experience
  • 2-3 years of project management experience
  • Experience working with USAID and/or State Department funded projects
  • Knowledge of South Asia’s politics, economics, history, and culture
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel to challenging environments

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on political developments in South Asia
  • Oversee implementation of specific grants and associated activities
  • Ensure compliance with grant agreements and IRI policies
  • Track budget estimates and expenditures
  • Lead monitoring and evaluation efforts
  • Contribute to program design and development
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Support communication and outreach efforts
  • Represent IRI at external events
  • Travel to South Asia for program oversight

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related field

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in international development
  • Experience working with political parties, civil society organizations, or legislative bodies in South Asia
  • Experience in project management and working with USAID/State Department funded projects
